4th of July Celebrations in Santa Barbara

4th of July Celebrations in Santa BarbaraThere are plenty of 4th of July celebrations in Santa Barbara. I am happy to report that the City of Santa Barbara is bringing back it’s traditional 4th of July celebration this year. Held at the beautiful Santa Barbara waterfront along West Beach, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy an afternoon of food, music, fireworks, and fun for all ages.

Here’s how Independence Day, Saturday, July 4th, will play out:
3 PM to 9 PM
Festivities at the Santa Barbara waterfront, including favorite food vendors and a musical variety show featuring local musicians hosted by John Palminteri.
9 PM
Fireworks and music at West Beach, plus the return of the radio simulcast, courtesy of 92.9 KJEE.

Parking
Waterfront parking lots will be open on the 4th of July, with Stearns Wharf closing to vehicular traffic from 3 PM – 9:30 PM. Find a map of the beachfront lots on the official Santa Barbara government website.

Bicycle Parking
Riding a bike is a great way to attend the festivities! The City provides additional bike racks during the event. Find a map of the bike rack locations on this dedicated bicycle parking page.

MTD
Local buses and downtown and waterfront shuttles will make transportation easy. Shuttles will run every 30 minutes downtown except from 1:00-3: 00 pm during the Annual Spirit of ’76 Parade. The parade begins at Micheltorena Street and proceeds down State Street to Old Town Santa Barbara, concluding at Cota Street. More than 175 agencies will participate. Visit the Spirit of ’76 website for more information.

Sunken Gardens Concert
Another community favorite is the free Annual July 4th Concert held at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens starting at 5:00 p.m. The Sunken Garden Concert will feature a one-hour show performed by the West Coast Symphony Orchestra and sponsored by the Cielo Foundation for the Performing Arts. More information may be found at the Cielo Performing Arts website.

Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show
The Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show will be holding a special Saturday show on July 4th from 10:00 a.m. to dusk. Visit the  Arts & Crafts page of the official Santa Barbara government website for more information on the show.
