It’s a fact: Social media can help sell your property. In fact, social media has become one of the most important marketing tools to make a listing visible across multiple channels.
The added online exposure of your home via social media networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and LinkedIn is an integral part of my success. The ever-growing number of followers on my social media pages allows potential buyers to engage and interact in minutes about a property of interest.
On a recent Million Dollar Listings New York episode, the agent, Fredrik, actually sold a multi-million dollar property through Facebook, before it was even listed.
It may surprise you that interacting with friends and family can create amazing results…quickly. Why? The answer is simple: friends and followers are increasingly using the internet for their property search. There is no magic button — it’s just a tool that makes communicating with a Realtor’s existing book of business easier. And this tool must be worked on a daily basis.
Facebook, for instance, is one of the most trafficked website in the world with more than 1.1 billion monthly active users. I add daily posts to all of my social media pages including Facebook, engaging potential buyers with interesting news about the industry and information and photographs of my listings.
Consider these findings from the National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) 2011 Realtor Technology Survey: In 2008, only 33 percent of Realtors used social media for their business. Today more than 90% of brokers and 91% of agents use social media.
That’s an incredible shift in such a short amount of time. The increase is obviously reflective of the surging popularity of sites such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter, and the desire to reach as many potential customers as possible.
