Enjoy day tripping and night croquet
Escape both mentally and physically to Atelier at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. This evening of intimate, intriguing, occasionally irreverent interactions with art and artists includes night croquet on the Museum’s front steps, featured cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, plus a curated mix of music by KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad. The fun starts on Friday, July 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Tickets cost $30 for non-members and $25 for members.
In a previous blog, I shared how The Santa Barbara Museum of Art (SBMA) celebrated its 75th year in 2016. Located at 1130 State Street, SBMA is on a mission to integrate art into the lives of people through exhibits, events, and a wide variety of educational and interpretive programs. The Museum’s permanent collection of the arts of Asia, Europe, and the Americas includes paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, ceramics, glass, jades, bronzes, lacquer, and textiles.
Atelier was inspired by the exhibition You Are Going On A Trip: Modern and Contemporary Prints from the Permanent Collection. This event focuses on travel and escape (mental or physical) and invites guests to “Get Out of Town” for a surreal summer vacation. Like all good experiences on the road this one has motion, music, snacks, a little day dreaming and a great companion: art.
