Here are some solutions Melanie shared with the webzine, freshome:
1. Clear the clutter
Think purge, and start by sorting your clothes into three categories: “Throw Away,” “Give Away” and “Keep.” I know it’s tempting to hold on to unnecessary items and think “Well, I’ll keep this just in case” or “What if it comes back in style?”  But if you haven’t used it in a year or more, get rid of it to make way for new collections.
2. Restructure and organize
Things change. Clothing styles change. Your clothing needs change. Figure out your own personal Signature Style for today! Be sure not to use wire hangers. They can damage and misshape your designer clothes.
3. Accessories
Make sure your accessories are organized in a visible space. What good are those diamond earrings if you don’t even know you own them and have placed them out of sight?
4. Shoes
“Shoes are a girl’s best friend.” That’s a quote for a reason. Your shoes can really make an outfit, so make sure you keep them on slanted shoe shelves or in clear plastic containers.
