The $1,000+ iPhone X touted as the most feature-rich iPhone
Imagine owning the most expensive iPhone yet. You’d want it to have the new OLED screen because it has an astonishing one-million-to-one contrast ratio, plus you’d want your expensive phone to be able to turn on with facial recognition. You’d insist on advanced AR capabilities, and a fun, animated emoji. (Maybe a cute dog or something.) You won’t have to imagine that for much longer. On October 27, you can preorder the new iPhone X, which will arrive in stores one week later, on November 3.
The Apple iPhone X marks the tenth anniversary of the product that brought smartphones into the mainstream. Its bevy of new features gives us a peek into what the next decade has in store.
The first thing you are likely to notice about the iPhone X, which costs $1,000+, is its size. It’s big, beautiful 5.8-inch screen is Apple’s largest one yet. The screen extends virtually from edge to edge with glass that tapers seamlessly into the stainless-steel band that encircles the phone.
You won’t find the familiar “home” button on the new iPhone X. Rather than opening the device with a fingerprint, you use its facial recognition system, Face ID. The system maps your face and stores the data on the phone, not on the cloud. All you’ll need to do is glance directly at your phone to unlock it. The same technology can also be used to verify transactions through Apple Pay, as well as third party apps.
There will be animated emoji’s, called Animojis. There’s a bunny, a cat, a unicorn, and my favorite, a dog, to choose from. Okay, it may not be life-changing, but it looks like fun.
The powerful A11 Bionic chip at the heart of the iPhone X was specifically developed to meet the demanding performance requirements of AR and 3-D games.
The company also showed off the new AirPower charging station, made to wirelessly charge up to three devices simultaneously, including the iPhone X, as well as the Apple Watch Series 3, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and AirPods wireless charging case—all four of which were also announced at the show.
