In today’s world, we all live hectic lives so let’s take a look at how to organize your kitchen to simplify things a bit. The kitchen is probably the most used room in your home so it’s not hard to imagine that when it is organized and easy to use, your entire life will flow more smoothly.
Here are 5 easy steps to organizing your kitchen from one of the nation’s top professional organizers, Monica Ricci:
#1: Clean Cabinets Take everything out of your kitchen cabinets and decide what to keep and what to discard or donate. The goal here is to eliminate items you don’t use so you can have easy access to the things you do use.
#2: Grouping and organizing Items When you are putting things back into your cabinets, group like items together. For instance, cooking and baking items should be together, utensils should be kept in the drawer nearest to the prep area, glassware should be placed near the sink and so on.
#3: Store Items in Clear Containers Take things like packets of sauce mixes, gravy mixes, hot cereal packets and hot cocoa envelopes, and put them all into plastic containers so they aren’t scattered about.
#4: Containers and Lids Make sure you store your containers and lids together. And go ahead and throw out those containers that are missing lids!
#5: Make Vertical Space Your Friend Consider using wall space or a ceiling rack to hang pots and pans. This look is totally in right now and any space you can use to hang something will free up flat space inside a cabinet.
