There’s no denying that Santa Barbara is beautiful this time of year
There’s so much to do in Santa Barbara this Spring it can be difficult to decide where to begin. With all the Spring flowers popping up and the many activities, there’s never a dull or boring moment. Here’s a list of my favorite things to do in Santa Barbara this Spring.
- Go on a hike
Spring is the perfect time to hike in Santa Barbara because it’s not too hot yet. Plus, there are plenty of trails with a generous amount of natural shade. Better still, most of these trails offer beautiful overlooks of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Barbara coast. Hiking is a must do in Santa Barbara in spring.
- Check out the Earth Day Festival
Every year, there’s a free two-day festival celebrating Earth Day at Alameda Park. Celebrate our beautiful planet while helping work to preserve it at this fun and enlightening event. It’s great for the whole family. The festival will take place on April 21 and 22 this year, so mark your calendars!
- See the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
See everything in bloom this spring at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. It’s a fun and affordable way to experience Santa Barbara’s native plants as well as a variety of rare and unusual specimens you won’t find anywhere else.
- Visit the Santa Barbara Zoo
The Santa Barbara Zoo is always fun to visit, with over 500 animals to see. It’s a great family activity, but there are fun things for adults-only as well. Every May, for example, they have the Roar & Pour event. This event features wine tasting from 20 different Santa Barbara wineries while guests wander the zoo after hours. It’s a fun way to enjoy local wines while supporting the zoo.
- Ride your bike
Whether it’s steep climbs or easy afternoon pleasure rides, Santa Barbara biking has you covered. Mountain pass roads like Gibraltar and Old San Marcos Pass will test the mettle of even the most fit rider while bike lanes in town will lead you through the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara and its hip, happenin’ Funk Zone. It passes the magnificent County Courthouse, city parks, and the old Santa Barbara Mission.
- Wander along Stearns Wharf
Stearns Wharf is always a fun place to go for a walk and get views of the Pacific Ocean. It even has a number of cute boutiques where you can buy souvenirs. And it has some cool restaurants to stop by for lunch or dinner. Everyone should visit Stearns Wharf when they visit Santa Barbara, regardless of what season it is.
- Take the art walk
While taking a stroll on State Street, you’ll notice Santa Barbara’s prominent love of art. And every Sunday — as well as some Saturdays — local artists partake in the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show. The art walk runs along more than half a mile of beachfront on Cabrillo Boulevard, from 10 a.m. to dusk.
- Buy or sell your home
When Spring is in the air, homebuyers seem to come out of hibernation. Here in California, the longer days plus the warmer weather make this time of year the perfect time to list your home and a great time to find your dream home here. Real estate economists predict California’s five-year run of rising home prices will last another three to five years, making this spring an excellent time to list. More inventory on the market makes spring the best time to buy.
