If you like to shop, you’ll love Santa Barbara’s historic State Street Plaza. Known as one of America’s most pedestrian-friendly downtowns, it provides an amazing diversity of choices. The quaint shop-lined streets are a favorite with visitors and locals alike. From Santa Barbara-style specialties to national brands, and from regional gallery favorites to indie boutiques, Downtown Santa Barbara offers an authentic shopping experience, whether you are seriously buying, strolling, or just taking in the scene. Here are some of my personal favorite places to shop for home furnishings and décor:

  • Architectural Antique & Salvage Co.
Tucked down an alley off Anacapa Street and De la Guerra Plaza, The Salvage Company offers a beautifully curated collection of art, antiques, antique rugs and historical architectural salvage. Owners Judy Cota and Jay Friedmann, a highly respected connoisseur of antique rugs and textiles, create an atmosphere of adventure and discovery in their loft-like, salon-style space. This is the real deal and we’re lucky to have it. You are likely to find early California and European landscape paintings, hand forged iron work, mid-century modern furniture as well as ethnographic and Asian antiques. It’s a place you’ll want to visit often because the tableau is always changing.
  • Celadon House
Celadon House is located in the heart of beautiful downtown Santa Barbara on delightful State Street, offering fine home furnishings as well as a unique assortment of home accents and art. They are direct importers and designers of solid exotic wood furniture, and are known for having a unique and diverse assortment of quality pieces collected from all over the world. Sustainable and “green” design have always been a part of their collection; long before it was fashionable. The woods used are either recycled or plantation timber. The three main tropical hardwoods they work with are Palisander, Acacia and Suar.
  • Coast 2 Coast Collection
This luxury gift and tableware boutique is located in the historic La Aracada Courtyard in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. It is the exclusive, authorized retailer in the Santa Barbara area representing luxury brands such as, Bernardaud, Christofle, Hermes, Lalique and St. Louis.  Coast 2 Coast has a wide array of tableware, giftware, glassware and linens to choose from including brands such as, Jan Barboglio, Juliska, Match, Vietri, Waterford and Wedgewood.  In addition, the store has one of the largest collections of signed vintage costume jewelry by Chanel, Dior, Givenchy and Miriam Haskell.  You will find something special for everyone in this unique store; from beautiful baby and wedding gifts, to a special sports collection of autographed memorabilia.
